Short version: Is This AI processes everything on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store any of your data on external servers.
Important — Detection Accuracy: Results are probabilistic estimates, not guaranteed facts. Accuracy may vary based on image quality, audio clarity, text length, language, and the type of AI system used to generate content. Do not rely solely on these results for academic, legal, or professional decisions. See our Terms of Service for full accuracy limitations.
1. Overview
Is This AI: Deepfake Detector ("the App", "we", "our") is a mobile application that detects AI-generated content (images, text, and audio) entirely on-device using TFLite machine learning models. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with the App.
2. Data We Do Not Collect
We do not collect:
- Images, text, or audio files you scan
- Scan results or detection history
- Personal information (name, email, location)
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Usage analytics or behavioral data
All inference is performed locally on your device using bundled ML models. No content leaves your phone during detection.
3. Data Stored Locally
The App stores the following data locally on your device only:
- Scan history — scan type, result, confidence score, and timestamp, stored in Hive (local database). File contents are never stored.
- App settings — dark mode preference, notification settings, sound effects — stored via SharedPreferences.
- Onboarding status — whether you have completed the onboarding flow.
You can clear this data at any time by uninstalling the App.
4. Permissions Used
- Photo Library (iOS) — NSPhotoLibraryUsageDescription — required to let you pick images for AI detection. We do not access your library without your explicit action.
- Read External Storage / Media (Android) — READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_AUDIO — required to pick image and audio files. Only the file you select is accessed.
- Notifications — POST_NOTIFICATIONS — optional. Used to deliver scan-complete notifications when the app is in the background. Disabled by default.
We do not request microphone access. Audio detection is performed on pre-recorded files you choose; live recording is not supported.
5. Third-Party Services
The App does not integrate third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking frameworks. No data is shared with any third party.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will address it promptly.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
